I Want To Be Rich Now

I want to be rich now! That is what I want for Christmas. However not just for Christmas but beyond. The Bible says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things shall be added unto you. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. Therefore, why should I not desire to be rich. Jesus left His rich life, came to earth to be poor so that I can become rich. I therefore, think it is mine to ask for. I am quite certain a lot of people would agree with me.

When I get my gift of 'richness', there are many things I could do with it. The Bible speaks a lot of good works. Jesus did a lot of good works when He was here on earth. He led by example. Therefore, who can do good works? Anybody. However if you have the money to do the good works with, it makes things a lot easier. Money answereth all things but the love of money is the root of all evil. Two more very good quotes from the Bible. Therefore I want to be rich today, so that I can do as much good works as possible to advance the kingdom of God.

Now who am I kidding! I have avoided what I know many of you were waiting to hear me say first. You would have said it first. I want to be rich now so that my family can live a decent life. Yes, we all love our families and if we do not have a family that is good as well. We all deserve to live a decent life. We are all people who can do good works. There are many charity organisations looking for people who can do good works and are willing to help. So, therefore, if we do not have an immediate family, we have an extended one. A God given one.

There are children going through hard times in this world. My heart goes out to them. It is not that I do not think about the adults as well but the children have a special place in my heart. How can I help if I do not have the money to help? It takes money to buy food, clothes and shelter. Therefore I will not apologise for saying I want to be rich today.

I pray that as you read this blog, that you do not know of any children going through hard times. I pray that you do not know of any adults going through a hard time. Let us pray that we can be rich today so that we can help the poor and needy. Let us seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness so that all things including riches will be added unto us. I want to be rich now. That is what I want for Christmas.

All I Want For Christmas - Is to Lose Weight!

I love Christmas... the twinkling decorations, the glorious rich food, the good cheer, the cheesy Christmas songs, the bustling shopping trips...

I hate Christmas... all that talk of what outfit everyone is going to wear to the Office Party, and I'm thinking,
'Oh blimey, what outfit am I going to be able to fit my chubby thighs in and is not going to look like I've got a football tucked up my dress instead of an ironing board flat tummy?!!'

20 years of this - YES 20 YEARS of yo-yo dieting, losing a bit here and there to put it all back on and a little more, for the next cycle of ridiculous diets. The only year I was happy was when I had had flu the week before and lost ½ stone. I had hot flushes, had no energy and felt rubbish for the whole Christmas party - but I was slim, so what does it matter?!! Life isn't for enjoying, it's about looking gorgeous and taut in your little black dress!

I'm pleased to say I no longer have this Christmas crisis at the beginning of December, when I frantically go on a ridiculous diet to lose half my body weight in 10 days by eating just cabbages, or milk shakes or maple syrup, so I can fit into said holy grail of LBD.

Yes, I gave up dieting 4 years ago, listened to what my body said it wanted to eat and when; and the weight slowly came off and stayed off for good.

'Good for you!' You might say, 'But how does that help me get into my LBD in 2/3 weeks time?'

Well, in the long term, make a New Years resolution that you are going to give diets a miss in 2010, and try something different. You are going to THINK and BEHAVE like a 'naturally slim person'.

• Eat when you are physically hungry (not emotionally, or through boredom or all the other
reasons)

• Stop eating when you are physically full.

• Listen to what your body is telling you it REALLY wants and needs to eat, and EAT IT - whether it's satsumas, bacon butties, nuts, chocolates off the Christmas tree, melon balls...

• Stop seeing food as 'good' and 'bad' as dictated by the diet industry, family, friends etc. All food is equal and we can eat whatever we like when we like - we are adults. This then takes away cravings and binges. If you are physically hungry and your body is telling you it wants to eat it - EAT IT AND ENJOY IT!

In the next couple of weeks, be realistic, you are not going to drop 3 stone without resorting to chopping your head and a couple of limbs off! However try this strategy to help you lose a couple of pounds, or at the very least not put on any more weight.

KILLING YOU WITH KINDNESS!

Christmas is a very food orientated festival with grannies, great aunt Mildred trying to push delectable goodies on you left, right and centre. Think Mrs Doyle in Father Ted, 'go on have a cake, have a mince pie, have a sausage roll, go on go on go on.....!'

People quite often associate feeding others with caring for them and showing love and hospitality. It can feel very awkward to say 'no' and is sometimes not appropriate.

Assess whether you are physically hungry and whether your body wants to eat it. If the honest answer is 'yes', go for it - eat it slowly and enjoy every mouthful. Remember to stop when you are full. Half a mince pie might be enough to satisfy your need.

If the answer is 'no', you could say, 'this looks delicious, can I take one to eat later when I am hungry. I'll let you know how much I have enjoyed it.' Take one, and the next time you feel physical hunger and fancy a mince pie - eat it.

This way, you are still eating the foods you enjoy, you don't feel deprived, you are not offending anyone, and you are not consuming lots of calories when you are not hungry just to be polite.

Happy Christmas!

You're All I Want For Christmas

It is amazing how everything comes to a standstill when it gets to Christmas. Suddenly we are no longer concerned about anything but the festivities. Our jobs take the 'back burner' and even the recession seems to wait as we delve into all the excitement around us. We forget about budgets and only think about gifts, partying, traveling, shopping, fun and yes, more money.

I took the liberty of doing a little survey of my own. I called it: 'You're all I want for Christmas'. It was really very interesting. When I asked people what they wanted for Christmas these are some of the answers I got. The females were very interested in Christmas gifts, Christmas decorations, Christmas lights, Nano ipods, digital cameras, clothes, perfumes, chocolates, wines, flowers among other things. The males on the other hand did not seem to want much, in their words. They were interested in things like flat screen televisions, PSP, CDs, DVDs, iphones, Wii games, new cars and more money.

Hardly anyone mentioned any intention of getting out of debt. So I guess when it comes to Christmas we throw all caution to the wind. 'Last minute family travel, here I come.' 'New car 4 me, thank you very much.' 'Weird Christmas gifts, bring it on.'

I guess when we look at it, taking away all the craziness, these are just little things that people need for their comfort. If we really stopped to think, if money was not an issue, we would be going all crazy as well. Hence my title, you're all I want for Christmas.
